Jill Lawley holds a BFA from the University of Wisconsin at River Falls (1999) and an MFA from Utah State University (2005) in ceramics. She has experience firing wood, soda, salt and gas kilns, and is now working in cone 5 electric firing. Her handbuilt and thrown work emphasize tactility, repitition, angle and line. Prior to working at Boise Mudworks, Jill taught ceramics at Boise State University, The University of Iowa, UW-River Falls, Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts (in Gatlinburg, Tennessee) and Lakeside Pottery (in Madison, Wisconsin).
Just shipped these pieces off to Montana. Very excited and honored to be included in a summer exhibition @wildfireceramicstudio [DYS]FUNCTIONAL juried by Austin Coudriet.

Pleased with how this vase came out. I ended up deciding to fire it upside down, the interior is glazed up to a lip, then layered underglazes on the exterior. I’ve changed up my firing schedule this year, firing to cone 4 and then hold+slow cool.
